FREE-RANGE EGGS:
- Wick raises three kinds of fowl at the moment:
- Rhode Island Reds
- A cross of Rhodes and White Rocks
- Guinea hens.
The reds and the crosses produce our eggs in hen houses that Wick designed and built. They have run of three large pens that are rotated in usage throughout the year so that the hens always have new areas to scratch. In addition to laying mash, Wick feeds them a lot of fresh grass, vegetables, table scraps, and fallen fruit. The chickens express their gratitude with bright orange-yellow yolks proclaiming their health.
Fresh eggs are available to orderfrom the farm year-around (e-mail wickwill@aol.com) or at the summer farmers markets: West Grove Farmers Market(Thursdays, 2 to 6 pm at HarmonyPark) and Kennett Square Farmers Market (Fridays, 2 to 6 pm on State Street)
